Merrill, a 6’0, 322-pound defensive tackle, signed with Missouri State out of high school before going to Northeastern Oklahoma State and then Arkansas State. He earned Second-Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2018.
Here is what ESPN’s Steve Muench said about Merrill:
Merrill’s size and low center of gravity make it tough to move him off of the ball. He has shorter arms but excellent upper-body strength. Merrill flashes the ability to chuck blockers in time to make the play. He chases the quarterback with good effort, but his initial quickness and closing speed could use work. — Steve Muench
