Tony Romo’s played in a number of golf tournaments since the spring and he says his game has improved a lot since this time last year, as he heads into the Price Cutter Charity Championship.
“If my games on I’ll be able to shoot some good scores. It’s just, these guys are more on than I am, more consistent day in and day out. But when I’m playing good golf, you know, I play a lot of these guys back home too,” said former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and NFL color analyst Tony Romo.
Romo hasn’t made the cut yet on the Korn Ferry Tour and hopes that will change this weekend.
” I started playing pretty good summer golf, about a month or so ago,” Romo said. “It’s almost like you bust down the door when you really improve. It’s like you’re really 30% better in like a two-month span than you ever were before, but you’ve got to go prove it to yourself too. At some point, you got to do that and hopefully that’s this week.”
If you remember, Romo was at the PCCC last year but only for a short time — withdrawing after only four holes at the time he thought it was tendonitis, but later found out he had a fractured wrist.
“If I could hold the golf club, I’d still be out there just pushing through, but I can’t,” Romo said after withdrawing in 2020.
A year later, the four-time Pro Bowler is completely healthy, and looking forward to playing in front of a larger crowd.
“Hopefully we get a bunch of people and support in the area here and what Price Cutter’s done and everybody to get this thing together. I think it’s gonna be a great time out here. I know it’s set up for fans, you’ll have a great time. Hopefully we’ll get a bunch of people and make some birdies and get them going,” Romo said.
