Before anyone on the Korn Ferry Tour golfed for money, they played for fun. And, two golfers here this weekend have played together for 20 years.

Nick Thompson entered round 3 -11, so did his younger brother Curtis.

“I want to shoot better than him, but it’s because I shot like 63 and he shot 64,” said Nick Thompson.

“It’s a wild ride. Yeah it’s there’s never a dull moment,” Curtis Thompson said.

One stroke on Friday stood in the way of them playing together for round 3.

“I missed a three-footer on the last otherwise we would have been paired together today,” said Nick.

But they may be thankful for that because they actually don’t play well when they play together.

“We’re just too relaxed at that point and it’s not like it’s a tournament, it’s almost like we’re at home,” Curtis said.

When they are at home it’s a different story — one that includes their younger sister and LPGA icon, Lexi Thompson.

“Yeah, if we’re all home we’re all playing together, we’re not playing with somebody else,” Curtis said, “We’re all playing together and having a good time. We don’t get to spend but maybe 10 weeks a year together so you know we make it count.”

Lexi turned pro in 2010 when she was only 15 years old. Since then, all three Thompson’s have been golfing professionally.

“There’s never a dull moment. She’s always somewhere, Nick and I are always somewhere together, so you always have something to watch, always something to root for,” Curtis said.

And when they’re not able to watch each other, dad comes in to fill the role.

“He’s come out and caddied for me some this year. It’s always great to have him around he watches my sister play, watches Curtis play,” said Nick.

“It’s good to have him out here. We were hoping to maybe get a PGA Tour card this week with him here but, you know, we’ll see,” Curtis said.

Some families go on vacations, but the Thompson’s go to tournaments.

“I have my wife and kids here so I mean it’s just great to have everybody here. I mean the only person that we’re missing is my mom,” Nick said.

Nick goes into the final round -18 in a tie for third. Curtis, -12 in a tie for 31st.
