Nixa native Courtney Frerichs has advanced to the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final at the Tokyo Olympics.
Frerichs won her qualifying heat in Tokyo with a time of 9:19.34.
This is the second straight Olympics that Frerichs has reached the 3,000-meter steeplechase final. She finished 11th at the Rio de Janeiro games in 2016.
Frerichs is the American record holder in the event. She will compete for a medal in the Olympic final at 6:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
