Golden City volleyball is coming off the best season in program history that saw the Eagles with 23 matches and finish conference and district runner-up.

Two all-conference players in senior outside hitter Brooke Beerly and junior setter Kyndall Scott return to lead the team. Beerly earned first-team all-conference honors. Golden City head coach Jeremy Scott thinks Beerly will contend for conference player of the year honors. Scott was a second-team all-conference honoree.

Golden City had just one senior on last year’s team, so plenty of experience returns behind Beerly and Scott.

Jolee Rector (senior outside hitter), Ahree Lutes (junior middle hitter), Kylee Scott (sophomore middle hitter) and Maggie Reed (junior outside hitter) are four more returning starters for Golden City.

That returning core will be a source of strength for the Eagles.

“Obviously we return a lot of experience from last year’s team losing only one senior. Expectations for the team are high with conference and district championships attainable with hard work and good attitudes,” Scott said.

Newcomers include: Lydia Horton (junior), Sienna Wirth (sophomore), Tyra Menadue (freshman), Reese Moore (freshman), Jade Pennington (freshman) and Elizabeth Renfro (freshman).

“Team strengths for this year will be our continuity, athleticism and overall joy of playing the game together,” Scott said. “I think where we would like to improve the most is our serve-receive game.”

Golden City opens the season on Aug. 27 at home against Niangua.
