Salem volleyball will be led by a strong group of upperclassmen this year looking to help the Lady Tigers to double-digit wins for the first time since 2010.
“I believe that our group has a lot of great leaders,” Salem head coach Kristen Barnes said. “We have a very talented group of seniors and juniors that are really starting to mesh together and I am very excited for this upcoming season.”

Senior Shelby Pogue returns at libero. Classmates Faith LaJoie (middle/right side) and Raylynn Nicholson (outside hitter/defensive specialist) also return. The returning juniors include: Avery Erway (outside hitter), Makayla Roos (outside hitter) and Skyler Klapperich (setter). Erway earned honorable mention all-conference honors last year.
Malerie Workman, Cayleigh Moody and Kylee Shalbot are a trio of juniors moving up from junior varsity to varsity. Senior Jaden Flores returns after missing last year due to injury.
“We are really learning how to play together and finish plays. I believe playing together as a team is really going to be an important aspect of our game,” Barnes said.
