Parkview returns a strong group of upperclassmen looking to help the Vikings win a district title. The Vikings won their last district title in 2018 when this year’s seniors were freshmen.

“Our strengths will be the core of upperclassmen that we bring back. We will count on their leadership to be competitive for all games on our schedule,” Parkview head coach Shelby Stewart said.

Seniors Carlos Valle (defender), Tyler Duchscherer (center-mid) and Silas Allouche (forward) are three of those key leaders.

Stewart on Valle: “Extremely high work ethic. He has worked hard in the offseason to arrive the first day of season in tip-top shape. His leadership ability will be tested this season with many new faces to our team.

Stewart on Duchscherer: “Has a high soccer IQ and the ability to facilitate plays for the attack.”

Stewart on Allouche: “High soccer IQ with the speed and strength to attack and finish strong in the final third of the field.”

Allouche was a top-two scorer for Parkview each of the past two seasons. Duchscherer brings a calm presence to the midfield. Valle also can help Parkview on the attack.

Sophomore Jovani Aceveda will also be back on the defense.

“Jovani will have a year of defending at the varsity level under his belt. We will look for him to provide us with stability on the back line when under pressure by opposing team’s offense,” Stewart said.

Seniors Brayden Howell and Hunter Banks are both in the mix at keeper.

“Brayden will be competing for the starting goalkeeper position alongside Hunter Banks. Both will have to push each other to become better in order to push our team to the next level,” Stewart said.

Parkview travels to Republic on Aug. 20 for a jamboree with the host Tigers, Catholic and Ozark. The Vikings open the season Aug. 30 at Monett.

“We will look to climb the ladder on the conference standings, compete in every game, improve as the season goes on, and be the best team we can be by post-season,” Stewart said.
