Glendale boys swimming wins third straight state title

Glendale boys swimming claimed a third consecutive team state title on Friday with 240 points, which was 20 points clear of runner-up Parkway West.

The Falcons brought home four event gold medals with three individuals winning titles and one relay taking a championship.

Michael Jasinski got the gold medals started with a state championship in the second event of the day the 200-yard freestyle. He swam a time of 1:39.49.

Lucas Chadwell claimed the other two individual gold medals winning both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times of 20.29 and 45.58, respectively. Jasinski was runner-up to Chadwell in the 100-yard freestyle.

The final gold medal for Glendale game from the 200-yard Freestyle relay made up of Jackson Talburt, Chadwell, Carson Johnson and Jasinski. That quartet set a new Class 1 record with a winning time of 1:26.57.

Glendale’s 200-yard Medley relay and 400-yard Freestyle relay teams finished runner-up. Chadwell, Flouer, Talburt and Tyler Douglas were on the 200-yard Medley relay. Talburt, Flouer, Jasinski and Johnson made up the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Flouer added two individual medals placing second in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 50.99 and fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.35.

Evan Riley rounded out Glendale’s top eight finishes with a state runner-up showing in the diving competition. He scored 474.65 points to claim second place.
