Crocker girls basketball team is poised for a big season with 10 seniors and juniors capable of contributing this year.
Senior Skyeler Layman earned all-conference and all-district honors last season on the strength of 12 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game averages.
“She has an outstanding work ethic and will be one of our captains and leaders,” Crocker head coach Rich Mueller said.
A pair of senior transfers in Gracie Coffelt and Kelsey Todd were also identified as players expected to lead this year.
Coffelt, who transferred from Camdenton with her junior sister Maddie, will play point guard. Todd is a transfer from Plato who earned all-conference and all-district honors last year.
“Gracie Coffelt is another senior who will be a point guard who brings a determined and focused mindset and will be a strong leader for us on and off the floor,” Mueller said. “Another senior shooting guard that will provide experience and leadership for us and is also an All-Conference and All-District player is Kelsey Todd.”

Kayley Homer (senior), Elaina Foster (junior), Ashlynne Worstell (junior), Meghan Campise (junior), Sariah Dean (junior) and Abigail Helton (junior) are six more returning upperclassmen for the Lady Lions to lean on.
Homer is a guard who shoots well and has improved greatly on the defensive end. Foster started at guard last year. Worstell is a very good shooter and has become a scorer. Campise has developed into a versatile player. Dean has a great work ethic and speed and has improved offensively. Helton is strong inside.
Sophomore guard Emma Routh also returns. She has tremendous speed and is a strong ball handler.
“Our greatest strength will be our depth and speed,” Mueller said. “Last year our defense was tough but we had trouble scoring the ball. To improve and get to where we want to be we will have to score the basketball.”
Crocker will host a jamboree on Nov. 15 with Vienna and Summersville. The Lady Lions will open the regular season on Nov. 19 at Tuscumbia.
“We will be a team that will be small but push the ball and play with intense defensive pressure,” Mueller said. “We expect to be very competitive within Class 2. We expect to be one of the top teams in the Frisco League Conference and challenge for a district championship.”
