Humansville girls basketball will look to continue its improvement this year with leading scorer Maliah Kenney returning.
The junior has led Humansville in almost all stats the past two years. Last year as a sophomore, Kenney scored 17.3 points per game while pulling down 8 rebounds per game.
The junior trio of Hallie Hogan, Kayllie Fowler and Kayci Payne give Humansville three more returning upperclassmen.
The sophomore quartet of Gabbie Kendal, Aayliah Hudson, Abby Sawyers and Jessica Winfrey roundout the returning varsity players for Humansville. Kendale is the leading returning scorer of that group. She averaged 6.5 points per game last year.
Freshman Jasmine Grigsby is a newcomer who should have a varsity role in her first year of high school.

This group will hang its hat on being the toughest team on the court.
“We never give up and always put up a fight,” Humansville head coach Miranda Chaney said. “We will get every loose ball and put pressure on teams all four quarters. We are gaining experience and knowledge along with improving our skills.”
With no seniors on the roster, developing a strong leadership core will be important for Humansville.
“We have kids who are learning to become leaders and continue to learn how they can impact their team’s success,” Chaney said. “We are mainly juniors and sophomores with most of our team starting to play basketball their eighth or ninth grade years. We have shown growth and continue to get better each day. Without having upperclassmen to lead us we struggled the last two years leaning our roles and how to be leaders. I think we will see huge strides this year.”
Humansville opens the regular season on Nov. 19 at home against the School of the Ozarks.
