SBU’s Nelson wins GLVC Player of the Week

Indianapolis, In- The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Quinn Nelson as the Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week Monday afternoon. It is his first and the team’s first since January 20th, 2020.
 
“We are excited for Quinn winning player of the week. He had a really good week last week and was really efficient in a lot of different ways”- Head Coach Clark Sheehy.
 
Nelson – a Senior from Ozark, Missouri – began the week at McKendree University, where he led the team with 26 points. He knocked down a three in the final seconds to send the game into overtime, where SBU would end up winning in double OT.
 
Three days later, he and the Bearcats returned home where they defeated the Indianapolis Greyhounds behind Nelson’s perfect shooting. He finished the game with 19 points going 5-5 from the field, 4-4 from beyond the arc and 5-5 from the charity stripe.
 
In the final game of the week, Nelson achieved a stat in every category helping the Bearcats complete the season sweep against the Screaming Eagles. He scored 15 points shooting 71% from the field, while pulling down 5 rebounds and had a team-high in assists with 7 to his 0 turnovers.
