The area brought home 14 all-state finishes and three championships from the Class 1 state swim meet on Friday.
New Covenant’s Maggie Moore was dominant winning both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Moore got her day started by winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.77, which was two full seconds better than the runner-up. She was even more dominant in the 100-yard backstroke winning by almost four seconds with a time of 55.74.
Carl Junction’s Skyler Sundy finished runner-up to Moore in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.72. Sundy finished fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.68 to earn a second all-state honor.
Rogersville’s Maddie Atwood won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.67. Carl Junction’s Chloe Miller finished runner-up with a time of 24.39. Atwood captured a second all-state finish with a fifth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.17. Miller earned a second individual all-state honor with a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (54.61)
Sundy and Miller combined with Abigail Wilson and Alanza Montez to finish fourth in the 200-yard medley relay.
Republic’s Karissa Metzger (fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke), Carthage’s Madison Riley (fourth in the 100-yard butterfly), Paige Sheridan (fifth in the 500-yard freestyle) and Webb City’s Sophia Whitesell (eighth in the 200-yard IM) rounded out the individual all-state finishes for the area.
Glendale 400-yard freestyle relay featuring Sophia Hawley, Lauren Bloxom, Hannah Rohrbaugh and Karsen Bennett finished seventh place to earn all-state honors.
