Greenfield baseball returns to the field for the first time since 2019, which means the Wildcats will have a young an inexperienced team this fall.

“We want to get better every practice and every game,” head coach Jordan Bryant said. “We want to rebuild the baseball program, after not having a team for two years, I think we have a good group of boys to do that with.”

Senior Ryelan DeJager and sophomore Marshall Robertson will be team leaders. Robertson will play catcher with DeJager playing in the outfield.

Sophomore Alex Pickett and freshman Austin Pickett will be Greenfield’s top two pitchers.

Look for Rexton DeJager (first base), Alex Pickett (second base), Austin Pickett (shortstop) and Delton Greene (third base) around the infield.

The outfield will be comprised of Landon Brown and Max McCarty in left field, Nikolas Gossett in center field and Ryelan DeJager and Mason Crossland in right field.

“Speed in the outfield and fielding will be our strengths,” Bryant said. “We will need to improve on hitting the ball and developing pitchers this year.”

Greenfield opens the season on Mar. 25 at home against Wheatland.
