McDonald County soccer will be looking for a breakthrough season in the program’s sixth season of competition. The Mustangs have won just two games through six seasons.
Things start with seniors Jazmine Belland and Erika Medina.
“Jazmine Belland and Erika Medina will be two big leaders for us, as they bring four years of experience and knowledge to this team and have high expectations to leave one last mark on this program,” McDonald County head coach John de la Torre said.
Sophomores Mireya Sebastian and Anna Clarkson return to their spots at forward after leading the Mustangs in scoring with three goals each last season.
Juniors Helen Martinez and Kadence Elliot return in the midfield.
“Helen Martinez and Kadence Elliot are two of our most experienced and skilled players who have the ability to play and change the game at any position,” de la Torre said.

Junior Samara Smith returns as the starting goalie after securing 152 saves last year.
“Our returning roster will be our biggest strength,” de la Torre said. “We will be returning over 90% of our roster to our team this spring. We had a lot of young players get valuable varsity experience last season, and they are extremely motivated to help this program reach new heights.”
McDonald County opens the season Mar. 18-19 at the Lebanon Tournament.
“Our expectations should never be higher than our work ethic,” de la Torre said. “We will go about this season one day at a time, striving to get better and reach new goals throughout the season.”
