Monett girls soccer is looking to win double digit games for the first time since 2018. The Lady Cubs will look for a trio of players to lead them to that goal.
“Our team leaders will be Jaida Worm (senior defender), Anahi Aguirre (freshman, defender) and Katherine Simmons (sophomore, utility player),” Monett head coach Neal Bluel said. “Each of these players have good skill on the ball and leadership qualities that will help us this year.”
Jaque Salas (sophomore), Deleny Rueda (junior) and Alexa Salas (freshman) will be forwards to watch for the team.
The midfield will be a strength with Brooke Bluel (junior), Simmons, Lesly Rosales (senior), Ashley Mecino (junior) and Abby Inman (freshman).

Worm will be joined by Aviana Ortiz (junior) and Anahi Aguirre (freshman) at defender.
Sophomore Emmah Mayberry will look to lock down the starting keeper position.
“The strength of our team is the excitement our players bring to the game. We have lots of experience even though we are young. We are building a culture here that we are trying to keep going around girls soccer,” Bluel said. “We are just going to have to grow into our team. We are young and lost 12 seniors last year. This group of 9th and 10th graders are some of the best quality of players we have had in the 10 seasons of our program as a whole.”
Monett opens the season Mar. 18-19 at the Cassville Tournament.
“We always expect to compete for a district championship,” Bluel said. “Staying healthy and doing what we have to in the classroom is critical for our success too.”
