Baptist Bible College Captures 2022 NCCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship

Winona Lake, IN: Baptist Bible College (BBC) won its first-ever NCCAA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship after defeating No. 2 seeded Lancaster Bible College 77-70. The Patriots came out strong early and led by as much as 12 points, before heading to the half with a 38-33 lead. Trent McBride was a force for BBC as he finished with a game-high 25 points along with 8 rebounds, but it was Tre Minton who helped clinch the title for the Patriots late in the game. Minton scored to give the Patriots a 73-69 lead and later would hit the final two free-throws and points of the game for the 77-70 win. Minton finished with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The No. 4 seeded Patriots picked up a 91-80 first round win over No. 5 Southwestern Christian University. BBC’s McBride led all scorers with 26 points, while teammate Minton finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. The Patriots then cruised to a 90-63 semifinal win over No. 8 Hannibal-LaGrange University. Nick Coble finished with 17 points and 8 rebounds, while McBride and D’Shawn Coleman each had 16 points in the win.
