SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State guard Isiaih Mosley has announced he will declare for the 2022 NBA Draft, but maintain his college eligibility.

“I have (dreamed) about this day, and it’s finally becoming a reality,” Mosley posted Wednesday evening. “I am excited to test the waters and declare for the NBA Draft.”

Mosley can now work out with pro squads through the end of April and potentially attend the NBA Draft Combine, which runs May 16-22 in Chicago. NBA draft rules allow for a player to test the draft waters by getting evaluated and helping a player’s long-term professional viability. Players with remaining college eligibility are allowed to return to school if they withdraw from the draft pool by June 1.

Former Bears Tulio Da Silva and Alize Johnson both took the same route and ultimately returned to play their senior seasons.

During the 2021-22 season, Mosley led the Bears to a 23-11 overall record and runner-up finish in the Missouri Valley Conference while helping coach Dana Ford’s squad to its first NIT appearance since 2011. He was named to the NABC All-District first team and USBWA All-Region first-team after averaging 20.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He also knocked down 70 3-pointers, shot 50.4 percent from the field, 42.7 percent from 3-point range and 90.2 percent at the free throw. Likewise, his 692 points this season was the second-highest, single-season scoring total in program history.

A first-team All-MVC selection for the second year in a row, Mosley was a five-time MVC Player of the Week this season, earned a spot on the MVC All-Tournament Team and was named national player of the week by four organizations on Jan. 24. He was also named to the College Insider Mid-Major All-America Team as a finalist for Lou Henson Award and was named as a mid-major All-America first team pick by ESPN’s Kevin Connors. Mosley also finished second in the MVC Larry Bird Player of the Year voting in 2022.

The 2022 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23 in Brooklyn.
