St. Louis- Missouri State softball’s Steffany Dickerson earned her third Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honor this season, the league announced today.
Dickerson recorded a 0.00 ERA while logging a team-high 15.1 innings pitched and two complete-game shutouts, in addition to recording her second save of the season. She struck out 12 Sycamores and allowed just one walk across three games, as Indiana State hit just .185 against her.
On Saturday, Dickerson tossed a complete-game shutout, as she allowed seven hits while striking out seven to give MSU the series-opening victory and her 10th win of the season. In Saturday’s second game, Dickerson came on in relief with two outs in a two-run game in the sixth inning with a runner on first base. She struck out the first hitter she faced to halt the Sycamore rally, before securing the save with a three-up, three-down seventh inning.
In Sunday’s series finale, Dickerson threw her second complete-game shutout of the weekend, allowing just three hits and striking out three in 7.0 innings of work to earn her 11th victory in 2022. Dickerson carried a no-hit bid into the fifth inning on Sunday, as well. She helped her own cause at the plate, going 4-for-9 (.444) at the plate with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
With her win on Saturday, Dickerson recorded her 50th career victory and she surpassed 100 strikeouts on the season on Sunday. In MVC games, Dickerson owns a league-leading 0.93 ERA and .167 opposing batting average.
The honor marks the third Pitcher of the Week award of Dickerson’s career. Her previous honors this season came on March 14 and March 29.
