The Glendale girls soccer team will play in the program’s first state championship game after beating Ursuline Academy 2-1 in double overtime on Friday.

Glendale struck first on a Charlie Wistrom goal on an assist from Annaliese Black early in the second half at the 44:55 mark of the game.

Ursuline Academy battled back with the equalizer at the 77:10 mark on a MaryClaire Imig goal assisted by Natalie Druger.

At the 105:30 mark of the game, it was Black to Wistrom once again. Wistrom headed the ball in off a corner kick from Black to end the game and send Glendale girls soccer to its first state championship game.

This is the fourth final four appearance for Glendale and the first since 2012. The previous three final four appearances ended with two fourth place and one third place finish.

The Lady Falcons are the first SPS school to advance to a girls state soccer title game. They are only the second southwest Missouri program to advance this far. Springfield Catholic is the only other area program to play in a girls state soccer championship game. The Lady Irish have done it five times winning two titles.
