Being able to play sports with your siblings makes for a lot of special moments.
Now, a trio of Dora triples are all getting to play baseball at the collegiate level, while spending the summer adapting to playing both with and against each other.
Growing up, the Luna triplets weren’t exactly each other’s favorite teammates.
“When we were little, we really couldn’t go outside and play catch together because we got in fights. It’s always his fault or his fault or my fault,” Bryson said.
The three eventually got along and starred at Dora in basketball and baseball.
However, after graduation, they separated.
“I loved it. It was definitely a change without my brothers there, but I learned how to make friends without them and talk to somebody and get out of my bubble,” said Mason.
Mason continued playing baseball at Drury, while Bryson and Auston went to Three Rivers Community College.
“It’s like you’re playing in high school again, every day you come home and he’s there,” Auston said.
“It’s just awesome to have someone that holds you accountable at all aspects of the game,” Bryson added.
However, the three’s journey together isn’t over, and neither is their sibling rivalry, as Bryson and Auston will suit up for Drury’s GLVC foe SBU next season.
“We joke around, and we tell him we’re going to beat each other but it’s going to be fun, especially playing against him,” Bryson said.
“I definitely think it’ll be a rivalry; I mean I want to strike them out every time I get up there but at the end of the day, they are still my brothers, but I want to beat them, I want to compete against them. I’m sure I’m going to talk a little crap if I do beat them,” said Mason.
Before the trash talk, and the competition, the trio is spending their summer as teammates at the Show Me Collegiate League.
“Coming back kind of feels like being at home in a way. It’s just different, kind of like a closer teammate in a way and I love playing with them I’ve played with them my whole life,” Mason said.
“Every day you don’t get to play with your brothers. Every time that he gets to come on the mound, and I get to play behind him it’s just amazing,” said Bryson.
The Luna’s will play together for another month before heading off to their college teams.
