CINCINNATI – Missouri State’s Jake McMahill has signed a free-agent contract with the Cincinnati Reds organization and will begin his journey through the minor leagues with the Reds’ Arizona Complex League club in Goodyear.
The right-handed pitcher from Blue Springs, Mo., began his pro career in June with the independent Florence Y’alls after spending his final collegiate season with the Bears in 2022. He was the winning pitcher in MSU’s NCAA Tournament game against Grand Canyon when he struck out seven batters and yielded three hits in 4.2 relief innings. For the full season, he was 2-1 with five saves and 39 strikeouts in 36 innings, holding opponents to a .233 average with a 4.50 ERA.
McMahill is the 150th MSU player to sign professionally in the program’s 59 seasons, including 131 under head coach Keith Guttin.
