Thomas Jefferson volleyball won 13 matches last year, which was the most for the program since 2010. The Lady Cavaliers will look to win even more matches with and experienced core returning.
Senior Nico Carlson returns for her fourth year as a starter after earning first-team all-conference and all-district honors last season.
Fellow senior Yasmina Mokhtar will play defensive specialist primarily, but is capable of playing elsewhere as the team needs.
Junior Alexis Stamps enters her third season as a starter. She is quick and mobile along the net and will play outside hitter.

Mary Nguyen is another junior entering her third year as a starter. She is a setter with good hands who sees the floor well.
Sophomore Lannah Grigg is a middle hitter who earned honorable mention all-conference and second-team all-district honors last season. She is a strong athlete who hits with power and has a strong serve.
Macie Shifferd (sophomore outside hitter) and Gabii Hiebert (junior outside hitter) are two newcomers to watch this year.
“We have an athletic group with good volleyball potential that should mold into a competitive team,” Thomas Jefferson head coach Dave Soetaert said.
Thomas Jefferson will travel to Jasper for a jamboree on Aug. 25 before opening the regular season on Aug. 27 at the Verona Tournament.
