State Girls Golf Recap

The state golf tournaments finished up on Tuesday with the Ozarks bringing home an individual and team championship along with 11 all-state finishes.

Below is a full recap of how the area’s golfers did at the four tournaments.

CLASS 3

The Glendale girls golf team won the state title in comeback fashion. The Lady Falcons trailed Visitation Academy by two strokes entering play on Tuesday. They combined to shoot a 342 on the second day to beat Visitation Academy by four strokes on day two to claim the state title. Glendale finished with a two-day total of 687.

Page Bowman paced the Lady Falcons with rounds of 79 and 77 on her way to a third place finish. Catherine Rhoads was just behind her in sixth place with an 84 and 83.

Hannah Peak (20th – 89-93), Scotlynn Blackington (26th – 93-91) and Audrey Duvall (27th – 94-91) rounded out the lineup for Glendale at state.

Camdenton finished eighth as a team.

CLASS 2

Marshfield’s Marlee Edgeman is now a two-time state champion after she came from behind to beat Big 8 rival Emree Cameron from Nevada by two strokes. Edgeman trailed Cameron by one stroke entering play on Tuesday and by two strokes entering the final nine holes. The Marshfield junior shot a 35 on her final nine holes including an eagle on the Par 4 13th to shoot her second 72 in as many days to finish with a 144 overall. Cameron finished two strokes back at 146.

Two-time defending Class 1 state champion Savannah Thessing from New Covenant finished fourth overall with rounds of 82 and 81. Cassville’s Avery Chappell earned all-state honors with a ninth-place finish with rounds of 85 and 87.

Logan-Rogersville and Mt. Vernon finished eighth and ninth in the team competition.

CLASS 4

Springfield Catholic had a strong showing in its first year as a Class 4 program with Lyla Louderbaugh finishing tied for second as an individual with rounds of 75 and 77. As a team, Catholic took fourth overall with a two-day total of 722.

Josey Roberts from Ozark finished in fifth place with a two-day total of 156 (76-80).

Kickapoo took ninth in the team competition.

CLASS 1

The area brought home two team trophies in Class 1 with Clever (909) and Greenwood (921) taking second and third place.

Clever was paced by all-state finishers Madelynn Kime and Avery Whitlinger. The duo shot matching 213’s for the tournament to finish tied for 12th. Teammate Josette McLaughlin finished just outside of all-state honors in 16th.

Sophia Fields rounded out the Clever team in 76th place.

Greenwood was comprised of the quartet of Eva Heidemann (18th), Anna Le (32nd), Anna McQueary (34th) and Katy Daugherty (48th).
