A pair of seniors return to lead a Fair Play girls basketball team coming off a five-win season.
That duo is Meghan Hoxsie and Riley Tennyson.
“Meghan Hoxsie is a team leader because she is our ball handler, so her voice is what gets us started on the court. She works hard and competes, so younger players coming up respect that she has a voice for the team,” Fair Play head coach Alicia Wollard said. “Riley Tennyson is another leader for us because she is a hardworking, encouraging, and holds herself to high standards in her play. She is important because she is a versatile player that can do anything you ask of her.”

Cheyene West (junior), Ashlynne Kirksey (junior) and Alexis Francka (sophomore) also return for Fair Play.
Wollard on West: “Cheyene West is a junior who is a key player this year for us. She continues to improve every year. She has both an offensive and defensive impact for us.”
Wollard on Kirksey: “Ashlynne Kirksey is a junior, and she is a huge threat for us inside. She is tough and fearless with getting rebounds and two-foot shots.”
Wollard on Francka: “Alexis Francka is a sophomore post who displays a finesse around the basket that makes her hard to guard.”
Freshmen Chloe Bruce and Mekenzie Evans both are expected to make an immediate varsity impact.
The experienced returning core should help Fair Play add more wins this season.
“Our strength is that we have experience instead of trying to rebuild,” Wollard said. “Our biggest gains were from us playing as a team. We finally have had a year that we are returners and experience allows us to finally find ourselves.”
Fair Play opens the season with its home tournament Nov. 21-23.
