Jeff Treat takes over as head coach of the Macks Creek boys basketball team this year. He inherits a program that has won double digit games in nine of the past 10 seasons. The Pirates finished 13-12 last season.
Logan Gallamore and Chase Whitworth will be a team leaders in Treat’s first season. Gallamore averaged 12 points and 6 assists per game last season. Whitworth scored 10 points per game.
“Logan Gallamore (is an) everyday guy, plays hard on every possession. Has a lot of experience and is able to be vocal leader. Best asset is to get to the basket and putting pressure on the defense,” Treat said. “Chase Whitworth is another everyday guy, guards the ball really well. Also has a lot of experience. He is able to get to the rim and can hit the 3.”

Seniors Nolan Donathan, Daniel Cortes, Connor Welsh and Daniel Eidson along with Jose Cortez also return for Macks Creek. Donathan, Cortes and Cortez can all hit the three. Welsh and Eidson are both big guys.
The six returning seniors will be a strength for this team.
Macks Creek opens the season on Nov. 21 at home against Stoutland.
“(I want our identity to be) That we are scrappy and work harder than everybody else,” Treat said. “We play faster and put pressure on teams.”
