“(We expect) to improve on last year’s start of the wrestling program and in my honest opinion we have already started our mover toward that goal,” Aurora head coach Todd Campbell said. “I think we may surprise some people this year in head-to-head matchups.”
The girls program has grown from two wrestlers last year to five this season.
Aubrey Simpson is the lone returning wrestler. She will wrestle 110 pounds. Freshman Jasmine Koehler has impressed early on. She will wrestle at 135 pounds.
Yesenia Gallardo (junior, 125), Mylee Klossing (freshman, 120) and Kylie Tanner (freshman, 130) will also be factors on the girls team.
Aurora wrestling opens its season on Dec. 3 at the McDonald County Tournament.
