Warsaw wrestling has a new head coach in Justin Wisdom this season.
He is looking forward to building up the Warsaw program.
“The coaching staff is enjoying the challenge in front of us, in recreating the Culture of Warsaw Wrestling and having our program overflow and positively impact the entire school district and community,” Wisdom said. “We are proud of all the kids we have out for our Wildcat Wrestling Program; from our youth program all the way up to our senior class.”
He will bring with him a tougher schedule.
“We will be wrestling a different and much tougher schedule this season than in years past,” Wisdom said. “These kids will be asked to do things they aren’t used to doing, so witnessing how they adapt and overcome things should be fun.”
A trio of senior state qualifiers in Donovan Campbell, Nick Bagley and Hudson Karr return. Coehen Walton (senior), Drake Murrell (sophomore), Skylon Boone (junior) and Brooklyn Jackman also return.
Newcomers for the program are freshmen Jayce Estes, D’Angelo Ramirez and Josh Haravath along with sophomore Alysia Yoder.
“The kids eagerness to learn and be coached will be a huge strength that we will rely on this season. If the kids can buy into the different things we ask of them, I trust they’ll have the tools to succeed,” Wisdom said. “The biggest challenge for our wrestling program this year is change. We’re working hard to build a culture that positively impacts the entire community, not just our program. Building a solid foundation and well-run program takes time and trust. The quicker we can get everyone on board to promote Wildcat Wrestling the quicker we can build a strong and successful program.”

Warsaw boys wrestling opens the season on Dec. 3 at the Knob Noster Tournament. The girls open on Nov. 22 at the Versailles Tournament. Wisdom highlighted the Dec. 8 Senior Night dual at the Warsaw Community Building as one of the bigger matches of the regular season.
“We are looking forward to traveling to different tournaments and competitions this season,” Wisdom said. “Our goal is to put our wrestlers in the best positions to be successful. We want to provide an environment for our athletes to thrive. Our goal for our athletes is to enjoy the sport and get them excited about what wrestling can do for them as an athlete, but more importantly, a young man/woman of our community.”
