SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury used their signature defense to wear down Quincy on Saturday for a 77-55 win over the Hawks in front of 1,790 at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.
The Lady Panthers improved to 9-1 and 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while sending Quincy to 4-6 and 1-3 in the league.
The Hawks stayed within a dozen points of the lead for most of the afternoon, but the pressure from the Lady Panthers created 31 turnovers and allowed Drury to pull away for a 22-point win. The Lady Panthers managed 15 steals coming from nine different players.
Terrion Moore, a graduate student from Kansas City, Kan., had a season-high 20 points and led the team with five rebounds while adding four assists and two steals. Moore also went 8 of 14 from the field and hit 2 of her 4 three-point attempts.
“I thought Terrion had a great game on (Tuesday) and she just carried that over,” said Drury head coach Amy Eagan. “She’s really hard to guard because of her athleticism. She can shoot it if you try to go under some screens on her and she can change speeds and get to the rim.”
Alana Findley added 16 points. Kaylee DaMitz-Holt provided 13 points and four assists, and Mia Henderson returned to the lineup after missing three games with an ankle injury and scored eight points with three steals.
Drury led 34-28 at halftime, then outscored the Hawks 23-13 in the third to open up the lead.
The Lady Panthers shot 44 percent as they hit 28 of 63 shots, while Quincy made 20 of their 46 attempts for 43 percent. Drury limited the Hawks to just three made three-point shots, and outscored them 34-8 in points-off-turnovers.
Quincy was led by Rylee Denbow, who came off the bench to score 11 points.
The Lady Panthers head to Lakeland, Florida for their next two games as they take on ninth-ranked Eckard on Friday at 11 am, then Florida Southern for a 1 pm game on Saturday.
