Weaubleau upsets No. 1 seed El Dorado Springs to claim home tournament title

The No. 3 Weaubleau boys pulled off a second straight upset beating top seed El Dorado Springs 65-60 to win its home tournament title.

Weaubleau used the three-pointer to keep the Class 3 No. 8 Bulldogs at arm’s length throughout. The Tigers knocked down 11 threes in the game led by six from Gage Johnson on his way to a team-high 24 points.

The game was close throughout with Weaubleau leading by two points after one quarter, three points after two quarters and two points after three quarters before eventually winning by five points.

Gunner Freeman scored all 12 of his points from beyond the arc with 12 points for the Tigers. Blane Durnell was Weaubleau’s second-leading scorer with 17 points.

The Tigers could not contain El Dorado Springs’ Landon Murry in the title game, as he exploded for 35 of the Bulldogs’ 60 points.
