Thayer hosted Salem for a boys and girls varsity doubleheader on Tuesday night. The two schools split the games with the Thayer boys winning 88-44 while the Salem girls won 68-61.
BOYS: THAYER 88, SALEM 44
The game started out slowly with Thayer leading 14-8 after one quarter. Then, in the second and third quarters, Thayer came alive scoring 33 points in the second quarter and 31 points in the third quarter.
Aidan Burns scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second quarter. Devin Harrington added in 22 points for Thayer. The Bobcats knocked down eight 3-pointers in the game.
Salem was led by 20 points from Kaiden Gatley.

GIRLS: SALEM 68, THAYER 61
The Salem girls jumped out to an eight-point lead, 18-10, on Thayer after one quarter and would maintain that advantage throughout the game. Salem extended the lead to 12 points after three quarters before Thayer’s offense exploded for 29 four-quarter points.
The Lady Tigers were able to hold off Thayer’s fourth-quarter charge with strong free throw shooting. They went 15-for-19 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and 20-for-26 in the game.
Savannah Manthey paced Salem with a game-high 28 points including six 3-pointers. Ashton Bowers (14 points) and Emily Strange (12 points) each scored in double figures for Salem as well.
Thayer had a balanced attack with Maddy Donahue and Abby Bowers each scoring 14 points and Haylie Larson scoring 12.
