Big second quarter sends Morrisville past Jasper

No. 3 seed Morrisville got off to a slow start against No. 6 Jasper in the Class 2 District 13 quarterfinals, but turned things around in the second quarter on the way to a 53-42 win.

Jasper took a 13-9 lead after one quarter. In the second quarter, Morrisville came out focused on both ends by shutting out Jasper in the frame and scoring 17 of its own points to take a 26-13 lead into the half.

That quarter proved to be the difference, as Jasper outscored Morrisville by six in the other three quarters combined.

Landon Burron led Morrisville and all scorers with 19 points. Jacob Presley (17 points) and Triston Bruegman (10 points) also scored in double figures for Morrisville.

Jasper was led by Gage Hall with 16 points and Wyatt Cawyer with 15.

Morrisville will face No. 2 seed Weaubleau in the Class 2 District 13 semifinals at 7:30 pm on Wednesday.
