Burri’s 32 points help Greenwood beat Spokane in C3D11 quarterfinals

Nick Burri scored 19 of his game-high 32 points in the second half to lead No. 4 Greenwood past No. 5 Spokane the Class 3 District 11 quarterfinals.

The game was tight throughout with Spokane taking a 19-18 lead after one quarter. Burri kept Greenwood in it in the first quarter scoring 11 of Greenwood’s 18 points.

The Blue Jays got a more balanced approach in the second quarter on the way to a 32-31 lead at the half. JD Tate helped keep the game close for Spokane with nine of Spokane’s 12 points in the second quarter on his way to a team-high 18 points.

Greenwood came out of the locker room and put some distance between itself and Spokane with a 14-8 advantage in the quarter to take a 46-39 lead after three quarters.

The Blue Jays went 7-for-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter with Burri scoring 11 of Greenwood’s 17 points in the final quarter.

Collin Clark also scored in double figures for Greenwood with 17 points.

Greenwood (20-7) advances to face No. 1 seed Sparta at 6 pm on Wednesday in Fair Grove.

Ethan Newell knocked down five 3-pointers for Spokane on his way to 15 points. The Owls finish the season with a 13-14 record overall.
