No. 4 East Newton got off to a slow start against No. 5 Sarcoxie trailing 12-5 after one quarter, but the Patriots climbed back in the game in the second half to win 33-31.
The Bears carried a 20-13 lead into the half. In the third quarter, East Newton outscored Sarcoxie 12-7 to cut the deficit to two at 27-25.

In the fourth quarter, East Newton outscored Sarcoxie 8-4 to beat Sarcoxie 33-31 to advance to the district semifinals.
Robert McFarland led East Newton and all scorers with 14 points. Jaron Malotte scored 11 to lead Sarcoxie.
East Newton will face top seeded Stockton in the Class 3 District 12 semifinals at 6 pm on Wednesday in Diamond.
