No. 5 Walnut Grove overcame a first-quarter deficit to upset No. 4 Fair Play 31-28 in the Class 1 District 5 quarterfinals.
Fair Play jumped out to a big early lead with a 13-7 advantage after one quarter. Walnut Grove cut the lead by two to 17-13 heading into half.
In the third quarter, Walnut Grove went to work offensively scoring 13 points to seven for Fair Play giving the Tigers a 26-24 advantage after three. They on in a low-scoring fourth quarter to keep their season alive.

Diesl Phillips scored 12 points to lead Walnut Grove and all scorers. Andrew Mettler and Blake Thomas each scored 11 points for Fair Play.
Walnut Grove advances to face No. 1 seed Dadeville on Wednesday at 6 pm in Wheatland.
