Big second half helps Plato upset Dora in district quarterfinals

No. 5 seed Plato used a big second half to pull away from No. 4 seed Dora for a 50-34 win in the Class 2 District 10 quarterfinals.

The two teams were tight throughout the first half with Dora leading by one point after one quarter and Plato leading by one, 17-16, at the half.

Plato’s offense came alive in the pivotal third quarter where the Eagles outscored Dora 20-12 to expand their lead to nine points. Plato closed the game out with a 13-6 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Brenna Crouch kept Plato in the game in the first half accounting for nine of the team’s 17 points in the first wo quarters. Crouch finished with a game-high 19 points. Mackenzie Perryman and Makayla Fletcher each scored 10 points for Plato.

Dora was led by Chesney Luna with 14 points.

Plato advances to face No. 1 seed Norwood in the district semifinal round at 6 pm on Thursday in Cabool.
