No. 3 seed Clever built up a big lead through three quarters and then held off a late charge from Southwest to win 49-39 in the Class 3 District 12 quarterfinals.
The Lady Jays doubled up Southwest 14-7 after one quarter. Clever carried matching margins of 15-9 through each of the second and third quarters to lead 44-25 after three quarters.
Southwest made a charge in the fourth quarter taking a 14-5 advantage in the frame, but Clever’s lead was too much.

Jayleign Flood led Clever with 12 points. Brylie Hicks also scored in double figures for Clever with 11 points. Eight total Clever players scored in the game.
Jaretsi Quintanilla led all scorers with 19 points for Southwest with 17 coming in the final three quarters.
Clever advances to face No. 2 seed, and host, Diamond in the Class 3 District 12 semifinals at 7:30 pm on Thursday.
