Golden City overcame a five-point first-quarter deficit against Lockwood to win 54-42 in the Class 1 District 7 semifinals.
Lockwood jumped out to a 13-5 lead after one quarter. Golden City’s offense came alive in the second quarter with a 20-point effort to build a 28-20 lead going into the half. Ty Force scored 10 of the Eagles’ 20 points in the quarter. He had 13 in the game.
The third quarter was a low-scoring frame at 8-7 in favor of Lockwood. The fourth quarter was Josh Reeves’ time to shine. He scored 11 of his game-high 29 points including going seven-for-eight from the free throw line to help ice the win.
The Eagles will face No. 1 seed Thomas Jefferson at 6:30 pm on Friday in Golden City for the Class 1 District 7 championship. Thomas Jefferson beat Golden City 54-52 in the regular season matchup on Jan. 26.
