Billings upsets top-seeded Galena to advance to C2D11 title game

No. 4 seed Billings jumped out to a big early lead on No. 1 seed, and host, Galena in the Class 2 District 11 semifinals on the way to a 54-37 upset win over the Bears.

The Wildcats took an 18-4 lead after one quarter and 30-12 lead at the half. The two teams played evenly from there, but the damage had been done for Billings.

Cale Plowman led Billings and all scorers with 18 points. Zachary Bos was just behind him with 17 points. Brayden Garbee also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Garret Lewallen (14 points) and Cody Jones (12 points) led Galena.

Billings advances to face No. 2 seed Crane in the district title game at 7 pm on Friday in Galena. This will be the third time the SWCL rivals have faced off this year. Billings won the first game 48-40 on Nov. 29 in the Pierce City Tournament. Crane took the conference matchup 59-42 on Feb. 7.
