Morrisville showcases depth in district semifinal win over Lakeland

No. 2 seed Morrisville defended its home court in the Class 2 District 13 semifinals with a 66-51 win over Lakeland to advance to the district title game.

The Lady Panthers doubled up Lakeland 18-9 in the first quarter and led 35-21 at the half. Morrisville expanded the lead all the way out to 54-36 after three quarters before closing out the game 66-51.

Taylor Blehm led all scorers with 21 points for Morrisville. Macie Letterman (16 points) and Hailey Presley (10 points) also scored in double figures.

Lakeland also had three players in double figures with Brett Frost leading the way with 16 points followed by Makenna Wilkins (14) and Nevaeh Echavarria (12).

Morrisville will face top seed Miller for the district title at 4 pm on Saturday at home. Miller beat Morrisville twice in the regular season. The first win was a 35-29 decision in the Walnut Grove Tournament championship on Dec. 30. Miller won the second matchup 51-20 on Jan. 19 in the Stockton Tournament.
