No. 3 seed Pierce City led No. 2 Jasper throughout their Class 2 District 12 semifinal matchup on the way to a 61-50 upset victory.
The Eagles jumped out to an 18-11 lead after one quarter. Jasper cut the lead by a point to 30-24 at the half. Pierce City came out strong in the third quarter and expanded the lead to 44-32 on the way to the 61-50 win.
Pierce City used a balanced attack in the victory with six different players scoring at least seven points. Madison Tindell led the Eagles with 13 points. Macie Crowther (11 points) and Olivia Stanphill (10 points) also scored in double figures.
Crystal Smith led Jasper and all scorers with 15 points. Emersyn Bass had 14.
Pierce City advances to face top seeded host College Heights in the district title game at 6 pm on Saturday.
