Chadwick comes from behind to win Class 1 District 4 title

Chadwick came from behind to beat MTC rival Niangua to win the program’s third straight district title.

The Cardinals jumped on Niangua early with a 13-5 advantage after the first quarter. Niangua responded with a huge 18-5 advantage in the second quarter to take a 23-18 lead into the break.

Out of the half, Chadwick chipped away at the lead with a 12-10 advantage in the third quarter to enter the fourth quarter trailing 33-30.

In the fourth quarter, Clayton Garrison took over. He scored eight of Chadwick’s 13 points in the deciding fourth quarter to help buoy Chadwick to a 43-40 win and the Class 1 District 4 title.

The Cardinals advance to the Class 1 State Tournament where they will face two-time defending state champion South Iron at 7:45 pm on Monday in Mountain View.
