Dadeville wins first district title since 2011 with OT win over Wheatland

Dadeville boys basketball is a district champion for the first time since 2011 after a 50-47 win in overtime over Wheatland in the Class 1 District 5 title game.

The Bearcats built and early 16-11 lead after one quarter. Wheatland then chipped away over the next three quarters forcing overtime tied at 42-42.

Aidan Jarman was key in the overtime period for Dadeville with five of the team’s eight points in the extra period. He finished with a game-high 19 points including 10 points in the third quarter. Teammate Luke Bushey was just behind him with 17 points.

Braden Sawyer led Wheatland with 18 points followed closely by Davin Sawyer with 17 points.

Dadeville will face a St. Elizabeth team looking for a fifth straight final four trip at 6 pm on Monday at Willard in the Class 1 state sectional round.
