Drury’s Bettis wins GLVC Pitcher of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— For the first time this year, Drury’s Kristina Bettis has won the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week award. Bettis made two starts last week, going 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average with neutral field wins vs. Minot State and Southwest Baptist at Ballparks of America in Branson

On Friday vs. Minot State, Bettis struck out 12 Beavers as she went seven innings, allowing two hits, and four walks in a 6-0 Drury win, her second shutout of the year.

The following day, Bettis struck out another 12 batters, this time of the Bearcat variety, and only gave up four hits and two walks. She pitched all seven innings of Drury’s 7-1 victory over Southwest Baptist.

Bettis ended the week with 61 strikeouts in 51.0 innings so far this year.

In 14 innings last week, she allowed six hits, one run, and zero earned runs with six walks and 24 strikeouts. She was the most recent Panther recipient of the GLVC Pitcher of the Week award, previously claiming honors on March 28, 2022

Drury is 7-9 to start the season. On Tuesday, the Panthers have a doubleheader against Davenport. Then the Panthers will host the Drury Classic, starting on Friday. Game one on Tuesday starts at 1 pm at Thompson Field in Springfield.
