Miller’s free throw shooting proved to be the difference in a52-40 win over Archie in the Class 2 state quarterfinal round on Tuesday night.
The Lady Cardinals went 23-for-35 from the free throw line in the win.
Entering the fourth quarter, Miller led by just three points at 40-37. The Lady Cardinals put on a free throw shooting clinic in the final eight minutes scoring every point in the quarter from the charity stripe with a 12-for-15 performance.
Haylie Schnake and Ashlynn Helton each went four-for-four from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Schnake finished with 16 points to lead Miller shooting 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Helton had 12 points. Loghann Levian was second on the team with 15 points.
Archie was led by 16 points from Keara Mattingley.
The game saw a combined 42 fouls and 52 free throws.
Miller (25-4) advances to face Bishop LeBlond (26-3) at 1:45 PM on Saturday at Missouri Western in St. Joseph in the Class 2 state quarterfinal round.
