Kickapoo started fast and didn’t look back on the way to a 74-54 win over Carthage in the Class 6 District 5 semifinals.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 15-10 advantage after one quarter and a 40-18 lead at the half. Carthage came out with fight in the third quarter scoring 27 points in the frame, but only cut the lead by five to 62-45 after three quarters. The Chiefs closed the game with a 12-9 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Harrison Doennig scored a game-high 24 points. Trae Oetting (17 points), Brayden Shorter (16 points) and Jackson Shorter (11 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers.
Max Templeman paced Carthage with 17 points in the win. Teammates Justin Ray (16 points) and Britt Coy (11 points) also scored in double figures.
Kickapoo advances to face the winner of Republic and Neosho in the Class 6 District 5 semifinals at 7:30 pm on Friday at Ozark.
