Strong first half helps Ozark upset Glendale in district quarterfinals

No. 5 Ozark used a strong first-half to build a lead on the way to a 50-42 upset of No. 4 Glendale in the Class 6 District 5 quarterfinals on Thursday.

Ozark jumped out to a 13-7 lead after one quarter and a 27-17 advantage at the half. Glendale came out of the break ready to battle winning the quarter 16-10 and cutting Ozark’s lead to 37-33 after three quarters. Ozark responded with a strong defensive fourth quarter to win the final frame 13-9 and the game 50-42.

Jordyn Foley led Ozark with 19 points. Behind her was a balanced attack with five other players scoring between four and nine points in the win.

Reilly Heman led Glendale and all scorers with 20 points.

Ozark advances to face top-seeded Republic at 6 pm on Saturday in Nixa.
