The Fair Grove Lady Eagles are in the final four for the first time since 2009.
Making it to the final four was a long time coming for Kameron Green.
“From volleyball, we were disappointed with the outcome,” said Green. The Lady Eagles were just one win away from the final four this fall. “We wanted to get back here and we knew we could. It took everything, it took practice, we were in the gym, we were working hard. I’m going to cherish this whole week,” she added.
A big moment for the senior and she’s a big reason for the Lady Eagles’ success.
“She’s kind of the heart and soul of our team, being our only senior she’s kind of raised these girls up. She’s a great leader for them to watch and depend on,” said Fair Grove girls basketball coach Jenny Talbert.
The team depends on Kameron on both sides of the ball.
“She could go out and hedge out on guards and stay in front of them, she has really good hands she’s a good passer. She makes herself very well-rounded,” Talbert said. “Even though she can dominate in the lane, I feel like she has lots of facets in her game and she’s really developed this year, we’ve just seen a whole new Kameron this year.”
A new and improved Kameron.
“She started as a freshman, she’s been thrown to the fire since her freshman year but every year she’s added new facets to her game,” Talbert added.
“Getting stronger, finishing well, and I’ve also worked on extending my shots outside the lane as well,” Green said.
Hard work pays off as the Lady Eagles are final four bound for the second time in program history.
“I knew what we could do, I knew what we were capable of we have such a competitive and determined team,” Green said.
“I’m just really proud that she’s able to experience this in her senior year,” Talbert said.
“It means a lot, we have worked so hard and to see it all come through is amazing,” Green added.
Fair Grove will play Skyline on Friday, March 10th for a spot in the Class 3 state championship game.
