West Plains started fast and then held on to beat Notre Dame (Cape Girardeau) 42-38 in the Class 5 third place game.
West Plains opened the game with a 14-2 run taking a 14-2 lead with 2:09 left in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs whittled the Zizzer lead down to three midway through the second quarter and trailed 19-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, Notre Dame kept the heat on and claimed its first lead of the game at 26-24 with 3:15 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs extended the lead out to five before West Plains cut the lead to three, 29-26, to send the game to the fourth quarter.
West Plains got the lead back early in the fourth quarter thanks to a 7-0 run to take a 33-29 lead with 6:21 left in the game. The Zizzers held Notre Dame scoreless for 7:15 of game time during the run.

Notre Dame cut the West Plains lead to one at 33-32 with 3:05 left in the game. Kaylea Dixon hit a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to extend the West Plains lead back out to four and Notre Dame would not get any closer than that the rest of the game.
Olivia Lawson led West Plains and all scorers with 16 points. She also had six steals. Dixon scored 12 points with all of her points coming on three-pointers where she shot 4-for-6. Allyssa Joyner pulled down 10 rebounds in the win.
As a team, West Plains shot 57.1% from the field and 60% from three while holding Notre Dame to 39.1% from the field and 30.8% from three.
West Plains finishes the season with a 24-8 record.
