SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury right-hander Kristina Bettis was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week in softball for the week of March 13-19.
Bettis went 2-0 last week with a 0.53 earned run average and struck out 14 batters in 13 innings. The senior from Swansea, Illinois, fired a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 dual against Oklahoma Baptist on March 15, striking out six batters in seven innings. On Sunday, she worked a complete six-inning game, allowing just one run on three hits while walking two and striking out eight.
The award marks the second time this year and the seventh time in her career she has won GLVC Pitcher of the Week honors. Bettis is in her second season with the Panthers after transferring from Jefferson County Community College.
Drury is 15-13, 3-1 in the GLVC and winners of five of their last six games. They return to action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Emporia State.
