Longtime Nixa Girls Basketball Head Coach Jennifer Perryman says she’s stepping down from the position and getting out of basketball for the time being.

Perryman, who spent 10 seasons as the Lady Eagles head coach, called the decision one of the hardest of her life.

Nixa won more than 180 games under her watch, winning three district championships.

Perryman spent nine years before her head coaching tenure as an assistant, where she helped the Lady Eagles win the 2009 Class 5 state championship.

Perryman says the move will allow her to spend more time with her son, Aiden, as he prepares to start high school.

“This is also going to allow me to the best mom I could possibly be, and that is the most important job I will ever have. Aiden is growing up quickly and I want to be exactly what he needs,” Perryman said.

She tells KY3 Sports she hasn’t ruled out a return to coaching in the future, but says she may eventually want to try her hand in the college ranks.

Perryman’s departure comes just a few weeks after former Kickapoo girls basketball Head Coach Jim Pendergrass took the Nixa freshman coaching job.
